Established in 1882, Ristorante Buca di San Giovanni is one of Italy's historic venues..
Originally the ancient Sacristy of the nearby Baptistery of San Giovanni, it also served as a secret initiation site for the Rosicrucian Freemasons and later became a gathering place for post-theater gatherings of prominent figures from politics, entertainment, sports, and Florentine business.
Notable events include the bachelor party of the Prince of Bulgaria in the 1930s and a stopover by President John Kennedy in 1961.
Today, beneath the ancient arches, one can encounter well-known Florentine figures and distinguished guests passing through, seeking the pleasure of an exquisite and lively evening in the menu and atmosphere of the establishment.
